About the Conference

Join housing management colleagues from across Scotland to discuss and exchange ideas about the issues and opportunities facing the social housing sector. The theme this year is putting the social in social housing and together we will explore ways to care for your tenants, care for your organisation and care for you.  

Is this the conference for you?

Through a combination of keynote sessions and workshops we will be exploring a wide range of topics including welfare reform, rapid rehousing, trauma informed practice, and working to support vulnerable tenants as well as transforming our services.

The conference is aimed at housing professionals on the front-line: housing managers and directors, allocations officers, tenancy sustainment officers, rent collection officers, arrears officers and housing management officers. Board members, consultants, local and central government and other professionals working within the affordable housing sector may also find the conference of interest.

Date & Venue

The conference takes place on the 24 & 25 September at The Studio in Glasgow city centre. The Studio is within walking distance from Queen Street & Central Rail Stations and Buchanan Bus Station.

The delegate fee starts at £229 for SFHA Members (£319 for non members) which includes attendance, lunch and all refreshments. When you book to attend both days of the Housing management Conference, you can come for £395 - a saving of £63.00!

Paul is Professor of Housing and Social Policy at Sheffield Hallam University. He has undertaken research on a number of subjects including the impact of welfare reforms, including Universal Credit; Housing Benefit, tenant participation; and, 'resilience' to economic hardship.

This work has overseen the growth of prevention and housing options and the success in implementing the 2012 target to remove the ‘priority need’ test form the homelessness legislation. More recently Marion’s team has been key in reviewing the Rapid Rehousing Transition Plans submitted by local authorities with a focus on prevention, temporary accommodation, permanent accommodation and partnership work. In this is the work connected to the roll out of Housing First for both the Pathfinder cities and more generally across Scotland
