Fire Safety in Building Standards Consultation

The Scottish Government has consulted on proposed changes to building standards, including plans to require fire sprinklers in all new build flats. SFHA consulted widely with members before responding.

Regulatory Framework Review - Update

Since SFHA's last blog update, there has been another meeting of the SHR's Working Group and a meeting of the SFHA Regulation Sounding Board.    At both of these meetings, an update was provided by the SHR about the content of the forthcoming formal consultation.

Update on Fire Safety - August 2018

Following the Grenfell tragedy there has been an increased focus on fire safety in buildings.  The Scottish Government plans to introduce higher standards for fire and smoke alarms in existing homes.  It has also opened a consultation on fire safety in building standards.

One year on, the SHR has now conducted a formal consultation on these proposals – which it is aiming to finalise in February 2019 with a view to finalising a revised Framework in April 2019.
